WMST COVD-19 Policies

It is strongly encouraged for all WMST members to be vaccinated against COVID-19, assuming they have been cleared to do so by their doctor.  We have a very mature population of swimmers and it is important to think of the health of the team and fellow members to try and protect everyone as best as possible.  The most effective way to do this is: vaccination, mask wearing, and social distancing.

For those who are fully vaccinated, you are strongly encouraged to wear a mask on deck and in the locker rooms (except when showering).

For those who are not yet vaccinated, you MUST wear a mask on deck and in the locker rooms (except when showering), and hang back six feet on the lane line between sets when appropriate space is not available on the wall.

What to do if you test positive for COVID-19:

Immediately contact the team President, Alana Wilson (936-522-8156), to determine if any close contacts from practice need to be informed of their risk of exposure.

You can return to practice after:

  • 10 days since symptoms first appeared and
  • 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and
  • Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving

When to quarantine if exposed:

Quarantine (stay home for 14 days) if you have been in close contact (within 6 feet of someone for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone who has COVID-19, unless you have been fully vaccinated.  People who are fully vaccinated do not need to quarantine after contact with someone who had COVID-19 unless they have symptoms.  However, fully vaccinated people should get tested 3-5 days after their exposure, even if they don’t have symptoms, and wear a mask indoors in public for 14 days following exposure or until their test result is negative.  Follow the recommendations from the CDC for specific quarantine procedures: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/quarantine.html

WMST 2022 Registration:

The WMST Board of Directors has unanimously decided that all members MUST be fully vaccinated in order to register for the upcoming 2022 season (begins January 1, 2022).  Proof of vaccination will be required with more information on the process to follow.
